Many apologies for the length of time it's taken me to pull this together
and post it. There's been a lot going on over here.
Anyway, for Contest #2, which scores all rounds the same, the overall
winner is...
Charlie Shub
whose 40 points were two better than runner-up Bob Fitta.
As for the individual conference winners...
The ECAC saw a tie between Brian Wilantowicz and Bob Fitta, with 10 points
each. Both were one goal off in the first tiebreaker (championship game
score), but Brian took the second tiebreaker, as his predicted total goals
scored in the tournament was only off by one.
Ross Belfiori and Bob Fitta tied for the lead in the CCHA with 11 points
each, and Ross took the first tiebreaker, missing the game score by only
one goal.
The WCHA race ended with nine people -- Dan Zeuske, Charlie Shub, Matt
Sullivan, Jim Dixon, Craig Roberts, Mike Larson, Craig Powers, John
Edwards, and myself -- tied for the lead with seven points each. Dan,
Charle, and Matt each predicted the championship game score exactly, but
Dan won the title on the second tiebreaker.
No tiebreaker was needed in the MAAC race, as Bob Fitta finished alone in
front with a perfect seven points.
From the previous update, Patrick Lethert captured the Hockey East title
with five points and Jennifer Iwen won the CHA with four points, both in
tiebreakers.
Complete scoring results are below. Congratulations to all the winners,
and thanks again to all those who participated.
Tiebreaker notes: The
first tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted
championship-game score and the actual score. Thus, if you picked the
score of the ECAC championship game (actually 3-2) to be 2-1, you would get
two points; if you picked 5-0, you would get four points; and if you picked
3-1, you would get one point. Obviously, the lower point score the
better.
The second tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted
total of goals scored in the tournament and the actual number. Again, the
lower the point total the better.
As far as tiebreakers that were actually
needed:
For the ECAC, the championship game score was 3-2 and the total goals
scored in the tournament was 116.
For Hockey East, the championship game score was 1-0.
For the CCHA, the championship game score was 5-3.
For the WCHA, the championship game score was 4-2 and the total goals
scored in the tournament was 108.
For the CHA, the championship game score was 3-2.
The USCHO prognosticators' numbers are included below, as are the "Higher
Seed" picks showing what would have happened if the higher seed for each
game had been picked to win.

LET'S GO RED!!
My wife says I pay more attention to hockey than I do to our marriage, which
is of course ridiculous... after all, we've been together for 11 seasons...
