GOPHERS SWEEP LEAGUE HONORS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK

    For the second week in a row Minnesota sweept the Western Collegiate
Hockey Association-Women's League awards as senior Tracy Engstrom (Willmar,
Minn./Willmar) and frosh La Toya Clarke (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton
Secondary) were named the league's player and rookie of the week.
    The award is the first for Engstrom, who had a short-handed and
power-play goal to go with five assists in Minnesotašs 9-1, 8-4 sweep of
Bemidji State over the weekend. The seven points more than double her total
for the season as she now has 13 points in 14 games.
    Clarke was named the league's rookie of the week for the second time.
She notched her first career hat trick in Friday's 9-1 win and added a goal
and an assist Saturday. Clarke also earned rookie of the week honors when
she tallied five assists in Minnesota's season-opening 4-1, 5-4 sweep of St.
Cloud State.
    Last week, senior Nadine Muzerall (Mississauga, Ontario/Kimball Union
Academy) and frosh Bethany Petersen (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington
Jefferson) were named WCHA player and rookie of the week.
