GOPHERS WITHSTAND COMEBACK ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT BEAVERS

Minnesota jumped out to a 5-0 lead but gave up three straight goals in the
second period before putting Bemidji State away 8-4.

Tracy Engstrom's power-play goal at 3:35 of the second period gave the
Gophers a 5-0 lead by the Beavers came back with three goals, two by Amber
Fryklund, to cut the lead to two.

Minnesota then scored twice early in the final period, getting goals from
linemates La Toya Clarke and Nadine Muzerall in the first five minutes, but
the Beavers cut into the lead when Alicia Kinsman scored to make the score
7-4. Kris Scholz collected her second of the game with 3:07 to play to
finish the scoring.

Bre Dedrickson kept Bemidji State in the game, stopping 58 shots, as the
Gophers held a 66-20 advantage in shots on goal. Jennifer Johnson, making
her second career start in goal for Minnesota, had 16 saves.
