1) Do you think the change by Hockey East from three 20-minute
periods to two 25-minute periods is a good one? Why
or why not?
No! Hockey is a game made up of THREE TWENTY MINUTE periods.
Why do the people in Hockey East think they can change how
hockey was meant to be played.
2) Do you think your perception of Hockey East or the teams
in the league will change? If yes, for better or for
worse? Why?
My perception of Hockey East will defenitely change. HE
will soon be known as the WWF of college hockey. What a
farce, two twenty five minute halves. This sounds like a
gimick the CBA or MISL would try. I would like to see the
reasons behind the decision to try this. What, do five
men get together in a smoke filled room and see who can
come up with the best way to turn HE into a circus. While
they are at it why don't they increase the diameter of the
puck by 2" or install 24 second shot clocks at both ends
of the ice. Certain individualy running HE are in dire need
of psychiatric help.
3) Should HE teams receive less consideration for an NCAA
berth than non-HE teams, given all other things to
be equal, because their league games are shorter?
No, the NCAA Selection Committee should not penelize the
teams for a decision the league makes. The western teams
have been playing a longer season than the eastern teams for
years. The Ivies limit the number of games a team can play.
Their reasons are clear, although some may not agree with them.
What possible reason could HE have for such an obsurd rule change.
However, I don't think it (shorter games) should factor into a possible
NCAA berth.
