I also heard at least two radio stations (one NH, one Vt) refer to the game
as a fight for "first place in the nation." I'm a little unsure as to how a
game between the #2 and #3 teams becomes a battle for the #1 spot when it is
already known at game time that the current #1 team has swept its weekend
series. (I notice the votes for #1 in the USCHO poll remain 27 for NoDak and
3 for Maine; they didn't pick up a single first place vote.)
 
    I think that there may be a misconception about how the WCHA is not as
strong as some of the other conferences. In fact I have heard people on UCHO
say that UND hasn't played anyone tough but I have to disagree they swept
D.U. and C.C. at home two tough places to play. I don't think UND coach Dean
Blais is spending much time worrying about what is said about the Sioux out
east. Only time will tell, many of us hope we can get a chance to prove the
naysayers wrong.
    I think that Maine, UNH and UND would match up pretty well. It looks
like it will be a dog fight in the H.E. conference come conference playoffs
time. I still think that B.C. will be tough and should not be over looked in
H.E.  I like the interlocking schedule they did away with, it would have put
some of this discussion to bed.
