Well, I was also not at the game, but I listened to the radio
broadcast, and Doiron definitely had an influence, but the teams did
very different jobs of coping with him. With Princeton leading 3-0
and 1:09 left on a Scott Bertoli charging minor, Darren Yopyk was
called for knocking the net off. Cornell called timeout and then
scored two goals on the 5x3. In contrast, Don Cahoon spent most of
the game yapping at Doiron, and at the end of the first period, after
Bertoli decked (I think) Jeff Burgoye and took and elbowing call, the
Princeton team left the bench before Cornell had exited the ice, and
picked up a bench minor.

Princeton took 22 penalties for 76 minutes and Cornell 20 for 72, so
it's not like Doiron's calls were really lopsided. (The one imbalance
was in the timing of those calls, as Cornell had four 5x3s and I
believe Princeton had none.) Princeton was 3/9 on the power play and
Cornell 4/11. (That three-goal lead accumulated by Princeton included
two power-play goals.) Cornell outscored Princeton 2-1 at even
strength and also had two short-handed goals.

I don't think you can say Princeton would have won without Doiron as
the ref. As with Cornell-Brown in November, the Doiron factor
obscured the outcome. All I know is that Cornell made the most of the
situation. As a team that lost its last three games by a total of
four goals, including an empty-netter, the Big Red needed to catch a
break.
