In the case of any poll, the "numbers" aren't even worthy of the designation
-- they are just the opinions of those polled, and, well as they say --
"common sense" is what tells you the world is flat.   For that matter, even
quantitative systems are strongly subjective as the initial choice and
weighting of indices is at best debateable.  Garbage in, garbage out.
 
It's fun to woof "authoritatively" about conferences, though, especially
when our emotional attachments get engaged.  My lawn's better than your lawn
-- the eternal boast.  ;-)
