Most of these NCAA tournaments have an incredible lack of good hockey
entertainment outside of Thursday and Saturday nights. In Albany, we
went to Cooperstown, in Milwaukee the bar scene was an even toss-up to
seeing the Wisconsin Band perform on Friday night, in St. Paul I stayed
home (90 miles), and in Providence and Cincinatti, well, never mind. Why
not bring back the Third Place game on Saturday afternoon or Friday
night? Hell, if a WCHA team that plays a 7:30 game Thursday night can
play at 2:30 on Friday .....(that's another thought). It has some good
points: (1) something for all fans to do, (2) the Thursday losing-teams
fans might stick around an extra day or so (in '93 the Milwaukee Hyatt
was dead), (3) some of the match ups might be very exciting (BC vs BU
this year in Boston). On the other hand, there are drawbacks: (1)
neither team really wants to play and may deliver a lackluster
performance, (2) Minnesota vs Maine, 1988 (Most penalties one game and
most penalties, both teams).

I'd really appreciate having the opportunity to see a hockey game on
Friday. The River Rats were not in Albany, the Admirals were not in
Milwaukee, and the Bruins are not in Boston on the Friday between the
Tournament games. So why not an NCAA hockey game. Just one more before
the season is OVER.

Agreement? Disagreement?
