From today's Omaha World-Herald and an interview with AD Bob Dannenhauer
on local radio station KKAR (1290AM):

UNO has been invited to make a presentation at the CCHA league meetings in
April/May for possible admission to the league for the 1999-2000 season, a
year earlier than would be possible if UNO joined the WCHA. Danenhauer
stated that securing a conference affiliation was a priority for this
offseason and the school would like to give the players "something to play
for" (ie. conference tournaments, NCAA tourney) as soon as possible.

I've heard that Hockey East has also expressed an interest, but that would
be kinda weird (IMHO) having an HE team in Nebraska (although I guess not
any weirder than a Fairbanks team in CCHA).

Will this "piss off" the WCHA? Could be, but it seems to me that their
courtship of UNO cooled substantially after MTU decided to remain in the
league. I think UNO deserves a shot to be in a league as soon as
possible. Or are they being too pushy?

What does everyone else think?

Joel
