Well, I was originally going to respond to John Whelan's inquiry by saying
I definitively saw that the puck sailed right by Frank Kovac's stick within
mere inches, but didn't touch it - but if Frank thinks he touched it, I
won't argue. To be sure, though, the RPI defender skating with him got his
own stick on Frank's, and it's entirely possible that Frank merely felt the
impact of the Engineer's stick - it would explain what I saw, which was the
puck taking a clear, uninterrupted path into the net. Apparently Mike
Noeth saw the same thing, which - as RPI fans would tell anybody who cared
to listen after game 2, and are now forced to stick with - is all that
matters.

Payback? Hardly - the Lynah Faithful aren't spiteful, nor are they in the
revenge business (just ask the RPI band - who was gracious enough to offer
their prematurely reserved hotel rooms in Placid to the grateful and
friendly Cornell band). It felt a little more like justice than payback to
me. On the other hand, I suspect a few of the Faithful are quietly
relishing the knowledge that the Engineers are, at this very moment, lacing
up their Rollerblades or golf spikes, and wondering what the weather is
like in Lake Placid this time of year.
