Well, let me now amend the Miami news. After former university President
Shriver's committee chose the Red Hawks name and current President Garland
announced it, the trustees voted 6-2 to "put things on hold"(AKA back off
and let public opinion decide) for two months. Part of the decision holds
that the picture of an Indian chief(current logo) will remain, even with
the new "mascot". Garland says this is unacceptable and will cause another
"controversy" later.
Somehow, I doubt this one will catch on. BTW, the Miami Student(campus
paper) has been referring to the teams as the "Red and White" in all
articles this year.
