You and others have made some valid points in defense of LP. I guess a lot
of depends on what one is looking for. If you want to get to the game
as easily as possible and have facilities at hand, then you look at it
my way. If you want to look at it as a "Winter Wonderland" kind of view
with a small town touch, then you look at it your way. I still feel that
some sort of alternation of sites would be nicer in order to please us all.
In answer to the question as to what would happen if the ECAC's were at
Albany and RPI was not in it, several years ago the NCAA's held their
hockey finals in Albany. Not only was RPI not there but there were NO
eastern teams there; the combatants were Wisconsin, Michigan, Lake
Superior State and Michigan State. Of course, very few people showed up
for the Thursday afternoon game, but the Thursday night and Saturday
night games were near sell outs. I went to all three games. Just think
what would happen if there were teams there from easy driving distance.
The people of the Troy-Albany-Schenectady area love their college hockey
and have proven that they will show up even if a local team is not there.
