Since no one else has posted any details about the game, I'll offer the
best, although sketchy, description I can.

Mike Machnik observed earlier that Harvard had and 8+ year scoreless streak
vs. BU at the Bright Center. This streak was almost extended for another
four years. (the teams play every other year at alternating sites)

BU played like the #1 team in the country, controlling play the entire game.
BU held a 1-0 lead late in the 1st when HU goalie Tripp Tracie, who has
owned the Terriers at the last two Beanpots, let in a soft one. BU forward
Chris O'sullivan dumped the puck towards the net from a wide angle. The puck
didn't go directly in. Whether it hit an HU defensemen or Tracey, I'm not
sure. BU then blew the game open in the 2nd with 4 unanswered goals, two
of them by Mike Grier, giving him 13 for the year (team high) and 7 in the
last 3 games.

Harvard did score early in the 3rd, but the game was long over at that point.
Terrier goalie Derek Herlofsky was not tested much, but looked strong in net.
He appears to have recovered from his nightmarish weekend against UML three
weeks ago. HU's Tracey was pulled after BU's sixth goal, though he did not
play poorly. Most of the goals came from BU forwards alone in front of the
net to receive passes, redirect shots and swat at rebounds.

In response to the recent flood of complaints about officiating, much of
which I agree with, I must say tonights refs were excellent. They let the
teams play and make few calls. There were several no-calls which brought
hollars from partisans of each team in the crowd, but the no-calls were
consistant. Two of the calls did go against BU frosh Chris Drury, who had
to endure the "You're no Ted" chant that followed Dan Donato for four years.

That was about all the Harvard crowd had to yell, as the 6-1 final and the
43-18 shot totals accurately reflected the play of the game. It could have
been worse had Tracey not stopped two Terrier breakaways and had BU not
missed several open nets.

Providence native and walk-on (I think) Peter Donatelli saw his first action
for BU tonight. His line (w/ Drury) didn't score, but did hold its own.

Sorry no box score. Hopefully someone else will post it. Next for the
Terriers is the GW Freezeout vs. Princeton. If BU and Maine meet on Sunday,
it will mean three games between the teams in eight days. BU and Maine
square off in Orono Dec. 2 and 3. Injured forward Jay Pandolfo is expected
to return for the Maine series.

Go BU!
1994 HE Champs!

PS Does anyone know the status of ESPNs deal to cover the final of the
New Year's tournament at Minnesota. A BU-UofM matchup on national TV is about
the best publicity college hockey can hope for.
