You want fights? Watch a few Michigan State-michigan games, one is sure to
break out eventually. Bench clearers were fairly common a few years back. I
remember a particualarly nasty one at the end of the second period at Yost
about 5 years ago. Lots of punches thrown and, I believe, no ejections. (maybe
1, I forget) I remember this one mostly because it fired State up and they
erased a 3-1 deficit with 4 in the third and won 5-3. Later that year there
was one at Munn between the same teams before the game even started. There was
an altercation at center ice during warmups and all hell broke loose. I went
to MSU for 5 years and saw at least 3 bench clearers vs. michigan. CCHA refs
have, or had, a tendency to call the double roughs instead of fighting majors.
Apparently this has changed based on the Perrault incident. Of course, they
may have changed the rules on what they call since I left State, as well.

P.S. Just so you know, michigan started every one of those fights. We would
       NEVER do such a thing at State. :-) :-) :-) :-)
