First I've heard of that! That would be great, but I have a hard time believing
it. They didn't carry all of them last year. (Aren't they playing something
like 36 games, too?) Also, they have to compete with Big Ten pituitary ball
and the IHL Moose for air time on MSC.

And I can't believe they're going to try and televise the games at Michigan Tech
(aka the Black Hole of Television), even if it IS Winter Carnival. Previous
attempts have led to such misadventures as the broadcast truck getting stuck in
a blizzard on the drive up there. The Gopher hockey team also can count on an
almost-annual misadventure getting to one of the UP schools. More than once
they've planned to fly in, but had to get a bus (for a 10-12 hour ride in bad
weather) at the last minute because the airport was closed. I seem to remember
Chris McAlpine arriving during the second period of one Friday night game at
Northern, because he'd had to stay behind for an exam and his plane the day of
the game had been delayed. I believe he shared a ride from the airport with
Mrs. Woog (hope that's not a violation!) The UP trips are welcomed, however, by
Star-Tribune Gopher beat writer John Gilbert. He also writes an automotive
column, and he takes that opportunity to test drive some fancy car in winter
driving. But the TV crews often choose not to venture up there, although they
made exceptions when NMU was a contender. Likewise, I doubt they'll make the
trek to Alaska. Still, it'd be nice if they WERE all on TV.
