PC-MC box to come later or tomorrow, in this battle of two Catholic
schools on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  Merrimack
continued to feast in OT, running its record this season in the extra
stanza to 2-0-1; 6-0-3 over the last two years.  3 of the wins have
been over PC.  The Friars fell behind 4-1 early in the second but
battled back to tie with two goals in the second and a PPG in the third.
 
13 seconds into OT, Rob Atkinson converted a bang-bang pass from
Cooper Naylor behind the net after linemate Matt Adams had knocked a
Friar D off the puck.  It was Atkinson's second goal of the night
(10th of the season) and Naylor's 4th assist of the night.  Naylor and
Atkinson were named #1-2 stars with PC's Chad Quenneville (1-2--3)
3rd, and you could have tossed in there somewhere PC's Brady Kramer
(0-3-3), Russ Guzior (1-1--2), and Merrimack G Martin Legault (40
saves), all of whom also played well in this entertaining game for the
tv audience.
 
I did land HE Commissioner Bob DeGregorio in between periods, just
hours after the news from Maine.  Barney said in response to a query
about the possible forfeits that the league will wait to see what the
outcome will be of Maine's appeal - in other words, until the whole
case is exhausted.  Off the top of my head, I didn't think he covered
anything we did not already know, which is perhaps a tribute to the
people on HOCKEY-L who have kept us aware of the situation.
