With regard to puck handling by goaltenders, how about goalies in
a **power play** role? Dave Gagnon, who backstopped Colgate's 1989-90
team that went almost all the way (lost in the NC%% finals) was adept at
taking the penalized team's rink-length clear and passing it up to the
far blue line where his forwards were waiting. A large part of Colgate's
transitional game (especially on power plays) hinged on Gagnon's feeds.
That particular Colgate team was *extremely* good at catching the opposition
making slow and/or sloppy line changes (as you might imagine) because of
Gagnon's skills.
