I believe that we've received enough official OK's to
finally say something about this.  A press release is
currently planned for later this week with the following
text:

The University of Michigan Deker Blue Line Club is proud
to announce a jersey raffle, to be conducted at the 1995
Great Lakes Invitational hockey tournament, for the purpose
of benefiting the Travis Roy Fund.
 
Travis Roy, a Boston University freshman, was injured 11
seconds into his first collegiate game on October 20, 1995.
The injury sustained has rendered Travis paralyzed from
the neck down.  The Travis Roy Fund has been established
to provide for Travis' long-term care.
 
In cooperation with booster clubs from Michigan State
University, Michigan Tech University and Northern Michigan
University and assisted by Joe Louis Arena, the Dekers
have arranged for five hockey jerseys to be raffled during
the 1995 GLI, held at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on December
29 & 30.  Each of the four participating schools (UM, MSU,
MTU and NMU) have donated a jersey, as have the Detroit
Red Wings.  Raffle tickets ($1.00 US each) will be available
in the JLA concourse during both days of the GLI.  Five
winners will be drawn during the GLI championship game
on December 30.  (Winners need not be present.)
 
The Dekers are underwriting the cost of conducting the raffle,
so ALL proceeds will go directly to the Travis Roy Fund.
Please join the University of Michigan, Michigan State
University, Michigan Tech University, Northern Michigan
University and Joe Louis Arena in promoting this worthy
cause.
