No "inside scoop", just a few comments... PC is coming off a split this
weekend with Boston College. In Friday's game they played like a team
possessed. They suddenly found a scoring punch and actually gave
goaltender Dan Dennis a bit of protection. I've heard rumors that the
Friar goaltenders are considering suing for Lack of Support :-)

As you watch Wednesday's game, notice something... It's been my belief
all season that the first line of Kramer/Quenneville/Breen is a poor
matchup. Chad has tons of speed at the center yet is paired with two
large, physical, and much slower wingmates. I've stated several times
that replacing Breen with Guvior or Ridolfi would make a much stronger
line. Nothing against Breen - he's an excellent player. I'd just like
to see some more speed on the line with Chad. I'd be interested in your
comments.

The only problem I have with that is that there are not several thousand people
paying to stand around Cabletron and watch you work. (If there were, you may
be able to push for a major league salary :-) ) I've always taken the *very*
unpopular position that sports exist for the fans. Without the fan, there
would be no scholarships, there would be no pro contracts, there would be no
Division I sports. The fans are the end losers every time someone with the
abilities of Kariya jumps to the NHL. Do I blame him? Absolutely Not! Ask
me how long I'd hang around if someone offers ME a 7 or 8 figure contract. I
don't believe the offer should be allowed until the player has graduated. I
also don't believe I'll ever see it happen that way...

You're absolutely right. Like Rush, however, that was MY version of "The Way
Things Ought To Be". I don't ever expect to see it happen. As much as I, as
a Friar fan hate Maine (no flames, please, just a friendly rivalry...) I think
it is very unfair to the UMO fans that every time a winter olympics rolls
around, Maine is drained dry. It's a real credit to the recruiting and
coaching ability of Shawn Walsh that he has been able to produce the teams he
has in years that he has been a feeder for either the olympics or NHL.
