Official Release from RPI's SID:

MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS, 4-3, IN HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Princeton takes third place in 52nd Annual Rensselaer/HSBC Tournament

The Princeton Tigers got 41 saves from sophomore Trevor Clay and defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the consolation game of the 52nd Annual Rensselaer/HSBC Holiday Tournament at the Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. With the victory, Princeton improves to 2-14-0 with both of their victories coming against Rensselaer. The Engineers, meanwhile, fall to 7-11-1 on the season.

Clay, who improved to 2-4-0 on the season, finished with 11 saves in the first period and 15 in both the second and third for the win. Junior Nathan Marsters made 28 stops in the loss. He is now 3-5-0 on the season.

The Engineers jumped ahead with a power play goal at 15:56 of the first period when freshman Kevin Croxton scored on a snap shot from the left circle. RPI's leading scorer, Croxton took a cross-ice pass from freshman Alexander Valentin and beat Trevor Clay high to the stick side. For Valentin, the assist was his first collegiate point. Junior Ryan Shields also earned a helper on the goal. The Tigers came right back to take the lead, however, scoring twice within the next 2:13. Sophomore Neil Stevenson-Moore tied the score with a wraparound goal at the 16:47 mark and freshman Patrick Neundorfer put Princeton ahead just 24 seconds later. A forward from Cleveland, Ohio, Neundorfer took a pass from classmate Dustin
Sproat, broke in alone on Rensselaer netminder Nathan Marsters and scored between the goalie's legs.

Neundorfer increased the Tigers' lead to two goals when he scored on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle at 2:45 of the second period. Sproat and Mark Marsters assisted on the goal, Neundorfer's fourth of the season. RPI's Ben Barr cut the deficit to 3-2 when he tallied his fifth of the season with both teams skating four aside. Barr, a junior, skated in alone on goaltender Trevor Clay and slid the puck under the
goalie after initially being stopped. Senior Eric Cavosie and freshman Brad Farynuk were credited with the assists on the goal, which came at 12:22. Princeton again came right back, this time with a shorthanded goal just 2:26 later. The goal came when senior Scott Prime gained control of the puck in the RPI zone and found Mike Patton, who was cutting to the net. Patton, the Tigers' leading scorer, buried the puck.

Croxton pulled the Engineers to within one goal when he tallied his second of the game and eighth of the season with a wrist shot from the left circle. Shields earned the lone assist.

Rensselaer returns to action next weekend when they will host
Minnesota-Duluth for games on Friday and Saturday nights. Both games begin at 7pm. Princeton will take on Ohio State on Friday evening at 5pm at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
