St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Completes 2000-01 Season

St. Cloud State ended its 2000-01 season with a tough 5-0 loss to Ohio State
in the first round of the WCHA women's ice hockey playoffs in Rochester on
March 8. The Huskies complete their season with a solid 17-16-2 record and
a 12-10-2 (4th place) record in the always rugged WCHA. In the game vs.
Ohio State, the Huskies were outshot 29-14 as Laura Gieselman was the goalie
of record for SCSU. OSU was 4-of-6 on the power play, with three second
period power play goals that sealed SCSU's fate.

Huskies Gain Honors
St. Cloud State placed three players on the 2001 All-WCHA Second team.
Those players included Ricki-Lee Doyle at forward, Kobi Kawamoto at defense
and Fiona McLeod on defense. Goalie Laura Gieselman was named to the WCHA
All-Academic team, while head coach Kerry Wethington was named as co-coach
of the year along with Minnesota's Laura Halldorson. This marks the first
time that Wethington has gained WCHA coach of the year honors. She was
honored for helping the Huskies gain a 17-16-2 record this season and a
12-10-2 record in the league. SCSU was one of only three WCHA teams this
season to post wins over each of the other teams in the league.
