Steve G. mentions insurance costs as a potential barrier to expanding
college hockey programs. Are there any studies of injury rates in
college hockey versus other sports? A local orthopedic surgeon who
specializes in sports medicine is convinced hockey has lower injury
rates (and less severe injuries) than most other sports, lower even
than B-ball. Any evidence to support this (or refute it)?
