I want to recommend 2 terrific new poetry books, Leslie Moore's What rough Beasts and Gary Lawless's How the Stones Came to Venice. Leslie lives in Belfast, and her book is filled with her color prints of the animals she writes about (she is also a printmaker). Gary Lawless is the owner of Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick and is a highly esteemed and loved poet. His book is an exploration and investigation of stones -- beginning with his grandfather's connections to the quarries of Prospect, Maine and traveling through Venice, and sites in Greece and Turkey. It's beautifully designed and includes photographs by Beth Leonard and others.
Both are published by Littoral Books.
