Library Assistant

Description, How to Apply, and Contact:

The D. A. Hurd Library, in North Berwick, ME is currently accepting
applications for *two* part-time Library Assistant positions, each for
approximately 10-12 hours/week, which may include two evenings a week and
Saturdays. Additional flexible hours may be available when needed to cover
extra busy times during programs, after holidays, or staff absences.

The ideal Library Assistant candidate will have outstanding customer
service skills, a great sense of humor, be energetic, and detail-oriented
with the ability to adapt and adjust priorities. Being tech savvy is a
plus. Previous library experience is preferred.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

   - Greet patrons and visitors
   - Ensure day-to-day activities of the library are successfully
   implemented by assisting patrons at circulation desk, in person, on the
   phone, or through the Internet; - direct the question(s) to another staff
   member if necessary
   - with computers, making copies, sending faxes, collecting payment
   - reshelving returned items in a timely manner and regular shelf-reading
   - Maintain confidentiality
   - Interact positively with coworkers and the public
   - Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Director

The Library Assistant position requires physical agility and strength to
bend, reach, lift and carry up to 30 lbs frequently. The ability to stand
for long periods of time performing tasks at a computer workstation is

The ideal Library Assistant candidate will have:

   - Desire to serve community members of all ages while working in a
   respecting, team environment
   - Excellent customer service skills
   - Undergraduate degree (preferred)
   - Library experience (preferred)
   - Computer skills sufficient to perform the functions of the Library's
   systems, particularly the online catalog and circulation functions, MS
   office, and Google Workspace

The pay range for this position begins at $13.50-15.00/hour, depending on
experience. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled
