Hello everyone~

Many have asked about our books by mail program, McArthur @ Your
Mailbox, so I thought I would share an update from our first full week.

So far it has been extremely successful! We have been running a
popular book group throughout the pandemic, but Wednesday was the
first since we began mailing books. Every single participant commended
the library for this service. Which was super to hear.

Feedback:

"It was like free Amazon, I got my package the next day."

"It felt like Christmas, I loved getting a package."

"Both my husband and I are high risk, so this is a tremendous relief
to get books without the fear."

We have set-up a mailing area and a pre-pay mail account. Once we
worked out details, the process is quite easy.

A huge thank-you to our library director, Jeff Cabral for consistently
advocating for the safety of our staff and our community. We are all
extremely grateful to be in a supportive work environment. The staff
began planning for the possibility of pandemic in mid February, so
there was very little interruption of our programming. We quickly
migrated to our contingency plan and our work from home model. Thanks
to the "in the fort" staff who kept the building open to deliveries,
phone calls, etc. every day with no interruption.

If you have any questions about our innovative program, please feel
free to reach out. We are happy to share what we have learned.

Have a great weekend!

Melanie
