Well, who'd thought in mid January when Clarkson was 6-8-4 that they had
any chance whatsoever to bring home the Whitelaw Cup. But, that's exactly
what the Golden Knights did with a great effort in stopping Brown 3-1.

*The first period was coreless but saw incredible goaltending by both
teams. Chris Rogles played well in stopping 10 shots while Brown's
Geoff Finch was unbelievable in stopping 18. The first goal of the
game was in the second period when a wrist shot beat Finch. I think
he was screened because it was not that tough a shot. The second period
ended 1-0 Clarkson.

The backbreaking goal came early in the third. A brown player was behind
his net with the puck. He wasnt being pressured or forechecked or anything
but his centering pass from behind the net hit either a Brown defenseman
in front or Finch's skates and into the net for a fluke goal. 2-0 Clarkson.
Both teams had tons of opportunities but both goalies were at their peaks.
Then, with Finch on the bench and under a minute left, Brown scored, thus
denying Rogles the chance for only the second shutout in ECAC Finals
history. Brown had a few good chances but Clarkson added an empty
net goal sending the Green and Gold faithful into a pandemonium as
they celebrated their 2nd ECAC crown in 3 years.

It was absolutely no surprise at all that Clarkson goalie Chris Rogles
was named tournament MVP. He allowed 8 goals in 4 tournament games.

All in all, the semis and the finals showed what CLarkson was truly
capable of. In both games, they played 60 minutes of hockey. Their offense
was clicking and their defense was at its best. Rogles, well need I say
more? It was just two total efforts from Clarkson. If they continue to
play like this (now 14-1-1 in last 16 gms), they could go far in the
NC$$'s.
