If the subject line means nothing, delete now. There were
17 entrants to the 1995-96 contest, based on CCHA regular
season play, and the winner is...
Hockey-L's Kenneth Baker!
Congratulations, Kenneth. Hockey-Ler's did very well, but
most of the entrants were Hockey-Ler's, so...
Kenneth squeezed by Scott Spooner on the final weekend
of the regular season. Most entrants took John Grahame (LSSU)
and Marty Turco (UM) as their two netminders, but Kenneth
rolled the dice that Marc Magliarditi (WMU) would stay hot
all season and went with Grahame and Mags. In the end,
the fact that Mags had a lower goals against average than
Turco won it for him.
Baker and Spooner (both Michiganders) were way ahead of
the pack, with a group of four clustered at third through sixth.
All Hockey-Ler's as well...
3. David Wang (BU/UMich)
4. Lonnie Grantham (UMich)
5. me
6. Leigh Torbin (UMass)
Leigh picked a solid CCHA team from HEA land, but didn't
know the CCHA well enough to pick any goons. :-)
Finishing dead last in penalty minutes was the only thing
keeping Leigh out of the top three. (David Wang suffered
a similar fate in the PIM category.)
If you entered the contest, I thank you. If you didn't, shame on
you for missing out on the fun. If you did, final results for all
entrants will be mailed (or can be picked up from yours truly
at the Joe...Section 114) this weekend.
