In a nail-biter at Anchorage, Colorado College loses to the Seawolves 6-5 in
overtime, splitting the weekend once again.
In the first, it started out looking like the Tigers were looking to put this
one away early. Jay McNeill scored a one-timer from Stewart Bodtker at only
1:01 into the game, and Peter Geronazzo added a second goal at 4:54. Anchorage
came back, though, and got goals from Jason White at 8:14 during a 4-on-4
situation and freshman Jeff Grabinsky at 10:18. R.J. Enga regained the lead
for CC with only 8 seconds left in the period.
In the second, Stacy Prevost tied up the game at 3 at 6:08, and then Todd
Bethard took the lead for the Seawolves for the first time this series at 8:39.
At this point, Bach was pulled and replaced with Lambert, as Bach didn't seem
to be on his game. Kent Fearns tied the game again with a power-play goal at
11:09, and the teams went into the locker room tied at 4.
The third started off with a bang, as Enga got an almost shorthanded goal
(the penalty had just expired) only 24 seconds in. Anchorage once again tied
the game at 8:31 on a power-play goal by Mark Stitt. The period was filled
with shooting frenzies for each team, especially the Tigers, who had four or
five rebound shots but were denied by some amazing saves by Schill. Anchorage
took a penalty with less than 2 minutes left in the game, but the Tigers
couldn't capitalize and it was headed for overtime.
Overtime was almost over from when it started, as CC turned over the puck
while on the power play and the Seawolves had a 2-on-1. Prevost drew out
Lambert, then quickly passed to Stitt, who put in the puck for the shorthanded
game-winner.

Three Stars of the game:
1. Stacy Prevost
2. Lee Schill
3. Todd Bethard

CC now has the league lead by 5 points, as both Denver and Wisconsin swept
this weekend. Next weekend the Tigers host Northern Michigan, victims of a
sweep by the Pioneers in their own building (btw, when was the last time that's
happened?), Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
