Someone recently asked about the penalty in strength of schedule results for
scheduling an Air Force. This brings up the issue of the have nots being able
to enhance their program by playing a tough schedule. So how about this:
When calculating SOS, throw out the bottom half!
Result: You could schedule some weak teams without risking your ranking and
still get credit for the tougher teams you play. I'd make a gentleman's wager
that the ranking of teams by SOS would not change very much at all by doing
this.
Is it October yet?
