When Denver was in St. Cloud the other weekend, all anybody could say is
"This doesn't look like a last place team." They are much better than
their record (WCHA should win toughest league honors this year), they
have good--no make that great--size, and some fairly decent offensive
talent. Wisconsin is probably like the Huskies, very good but not as
good as their record or position in the WCHA might lead one to believe.
The first round of the WCHA playoffs could be riddled with upsets given
that someone has to play Denver, Minnesota, and some other fairly good
teams, albeit at home. Good teams but no Ryan Bach out there.
I guess we'll find out who is the best second place team come the end of
the month when the Huskies invade Dade County Arena for the only regular
season meeting between the two teams. I'll take the Huskies for three
points due to senior goaltending.
