By popular demand (aw c'mon, one guy asked - that is a demand).
An inexpert assessment - if you don't agree, ignore it.
The big teams (size) MTU and Mich, the fast teams St.Lawrence and Mich.
My one word descriptor for St. Lawrence - pesky - in every positive sense
of the word. They frustrated Mich who outshot them (5:2) the last I looked
by zipping in and out, getting shots to go wide, slide by harmlessly
get stopped by the goalie and then shot up ice trying to get a man out
in front. They led MTU a lot and could just as well have won. They made
for two exciting games to watch (for those of us who watch instead of
understanding).
The only box I have ready access to:
1 :25 Mich Hayes(Muckalt, Fox)
1 14:23 MSU Gemel(Dolony, Bogas) Gemel jumped out of the penalty box after
serving Hodgins major/game misconduct.
1 14:22 MSU Berens(Weaver)
2 3:44 Mich Muckalt(Hayes, Crawford)
2 4:16 MSU Weaver(Dolony, Harlton)
2 5:38 MSU Weaver(Berens, Gaskins)
2 8:03 Mich Muckalt(Hayes)
3 11:19 MSU Bogle(Whitten, Weaver)
Mich drew a bench minor - too many men - at [1]7:13
Hodgins (MSU) hit from behind 5 minutes and game misconduct at [1]9:13
Muckalt (Mich) hold at [2]1:00
The rest of the penalties came in pairs - no power play or sh goals.
No penalties 3rd period.
Referees Piatrowski (Pearson, Dobrwelewski(State Journal spelling, I'll
accept it - but there's gotta be a z som'eres.
SOG Mich 7-6-9 22
MSU 16-9-3 28
