Union-RPI
Just some quick comments on the two games over the past weekend for Cornell:
1) I was very glad to see Andy Bandurski substituting for Parris Duffus in the
3rd pd. in the game vs. Union. Andy is one of my advisees. I thought he was
alert and played well for his first varsity appearance (he's a freshman
engineering student). He stopped all 8 shots directed at him. I thought the
Cornell defense really rose to "protect" Andy during the 4 minute penalty.
Cornell did not let Union into their zone very often and Union couldn't get
shots on Andy. Union certainly will need a few years to rise to the level of
other ECAC teams. RPI's offense always seemed to find a way to bring the puck
in Cornell's zone, something I saw less Friday night as the game wore on.
2) Congrats to David Burke for his goal scored 22 seconds into the second pd.
A blistering shot from the left face-off circle went past Neil Little (I was
not sure if he was screened). I believe Burke scored two goals last season.
Against the Engineers, he really showed them what a Cornell engineer could do
(even as a defenseman).
3) Didn't run into as many Hockey-L people as I would have liked in Troy.
Dave Smith was wearing a shirt with Cornell in front and OSU in back. Hard to
miss him. All you other travelling H-Lers please let us know if you're coming
to Ithaca this weekend. I still think it'll be fun to meet before the games.
That's all for now.
