After a slow start on Friday night, the Michigan Wolverines came back from a
0-2 deficit to beat 1st Place Miami 5-2. The 5 unanswered goals Friday night
were followed up with 3 more unanswered goals Saturday night giving Michigan
1st place in the CCHA and further endorsing their continued #1 ranking in the
country.
Adding on to the amazing stats that John Haeussler posted earlier in the
week, Miami is now 2-27-1 in Ann Arbor, all games played at Yost Ice Arena.
Head-to-head results from 1995-96 thru this weekend are:
Michigan 5 MIAMI 4
Michigan 8 MIAMI 0
MICHIGAN 13 Miami 0
MICHIGAN 5 Miami 1
MICHIGAN 3 Miami 0
MICHIGAN 5 Miami 2
MICHIGAN 3 Miami 0
Again adding to John's research...
The Wolverines have now scored 40 of the last 43 goals.
The continued dominance of U-M over Miami is just amazing. Having watched
both games this weekend, I truly respect Miami's defense (more so Saturday)
and saw flashes of brilliance in their offense throughout the two game
series. Miami is now on a Four game Losing streak, a streak that could
continue as Miami heads to Bowling Green next week, a talented Bowling Green
team who completed a season three game sweep of the Lakers this weekend and
have also frustrated Michigan and Michigan State earlier in the year.
With about a third of the season left, Miami will just about have to win-out
the rest of the season to catch Michigan for the CCHA title.
