Now for the tricky part. If team A had scored five seconds later
which penalty would be wiped out?
A) The first team B penalty because it was the first minor called
that created the 5-on-3.
B) The second team penalty because it was the first minor that caused
a short-handed situation.
I used to think it was A, but after re-reading the rule I now think
that it is B. What do others think?
Luckily, I've never come across this scenario while officiating a
game. I'll have to check my rule book to see if it is worded the
same way. Every time I read the rule book, I come away with a
slightly different interpretation. Got to love hockey! ;-)
