In a game marred by matching misconduct penalties, the University
of Maine Black Bears avenged last night's loss to the Boston
University Terriers behind the slick goal tending of Garth Snow.
Maine beat Boston University 6-1 to claim its second straight
Hockey East regular season title.
Paul Kariya led the way for the 31-1-2 Black Bears, collecting four
more points, all of which were assists.
Chris Ferraro scored a short-handed goal for Maine at the 19:01
mark in the second period.
Notes:
* Team Captain Jim Montgomery set a new record for the East in
points. He has more than 200.
* Last night's loss to BU snapped Maine's 44-game Alfond Arena
unbeaten streak (40-0-4), its 42-game regular season unbeaten
streak (38-0-4), and its 33-game unbeaten streak against Hockey
East opponents (30-0-3).
