The College Hockey Discussion List Poll for November 17, 1993:
Teams were given 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for a second-place
vote, and so on down to 1 point for a fifteenth-place vote. Total first-
place votes are in parentheses.
This is getting to be a full-time job. The 31 responses sent in this week
are the most ever for the HOCKEY-L poll by a pretty good margin. The Wol-
verines maintain their hold on the top spot in the poll for another week,
but there was a major shakeup in the rankings after the top 4. RPI, which
last week jumped four spots after beating BU, dropped five this week after
losses to St. Lawrence and New Hampshire. The Engineers also seem to have
lost their status as ECAC favorite, as Harvard moved ahead of them in the
poll again after trailing by only half a point last week. Meanwhile,
undefeated New Hampshire was the week's big winner, both on the ice and in
the poll, as their 3-0 mark boosted them six spots to #7.
The HOCKEY-L Top 15 welcomes a new member this week, as the Northeastern
Huskies make an appearance for the first time ever. Northeastern's presence
also gives Hockey East the lead in top 15 teams, with five -- not bad,
especially when you consider that the conference has only a total of eight
teams. The CCHA and WCHA each have four teams in the top 15 (though the
CCHA has three of the top four), and the ECAC has the remaining two.

The East-West split is surprisingly close this week, with total agreement on
the order of the top eight teams. Western voters were considerably harsher
on RPI than the Easterners were, though. Two other oddities: Northern
Michigan got most of its support from the East, while Northeastern got the
big boost from Western voters.
