The College Hockey Discussion List Poll for November 10, 1993:
Teams were given 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for a second-place
vote, and so on down to 1 point for a fifteenth-place vote. Total first-
place votes are in parentheses.
Ah, disagreement -- this is more like how an early-season poll should look!
:-) The key team this week was Lake Superior, as the #1 team since the pre-
season dipped to #4 after an 0-for-2 weekend. The Lakers' losses at home to
Michigan and Bowling Green boosted those two teams as well, with Michigan
taking over the top spot and the Falcons making a huge eight-place jump.
Unlike most of the rest of the world (see the media composite below), the
HOCKEY-L poll has not moved defending champion Maine into first place.
The early-season shakeup has resulted in some ties in voter responses, which
is why some of the totals include half-points (including the number of
first-place votes).

Dropped out of Top 15: Miami (#15 last week)
A more even split between Eastern and Western responses this week, in part
because a couple of people who I had assumed were Eastern voters wrote in to
tell me they actually were Western fans. Anyway, no arguments over who's
#1, but the two regions are boosting different teams for the runner-up spot.
Not surprisingly, the Easterners like Maine (despite all their victories
coming against Providence), while the West supports Lake Superior (despite
their two losses to Michigan and Bowling Green). The voting is remarkably
similar the rest of the way, though why Harvard gets more respect out West
than in the East is a bit of a mystery.

It's probably just as well that there's no more _Times-Union_ poll, because
the media composite was plenty full this week without it. More proof here
that nobody is really sure what's going on in college hockey this year, as
there are some fairly wide disparities among the polls.
