From today's Boston Herald, by John Connolly:
 
"Hockey East commissioner Stu Haskell and league president
Dr. Wayne Edwards of UMass-Lowell are expected to formally
extend an invitation to UMass-Amherst to join there league.
 
The announcement will be made at a press conference March 23
at the Mullins Center at UMass-Amherst.  First-year UMass-
Amherst athletic director Bob Marcum said the school is
'excited about the offer.'
 
Plans call for the new UMass-Amherst hockey program to play
at least one game against each Hockey East team during the
1995-96 season.  A head coach for UMass-Amherst is expected
to be named in the next month."
