Fri 1/22/93
at Providence 9, Merrimack 4
6 in the 2nd puts this one away for the Friars, who led 2-1 after one and
8-3 after 2. Bob Cowan had four goals and two assists for PC, and
linemates Brian Ridolfi (hat trick, two assists) and Craig Darby (five
assists to tie a HE league game record) also had outstanding nights. The
line, just put together for this game, combined for 7-9--16 on the night;
in fact, only two Friar goals came without any help from these three.
MC goalie Mike Doneghey had no help at all; he was pulled after two for
Dan Millar, who played well in stopping 12 of 13 shots in the third. Box
to come tomorrow, most likely.
at UMass-Lowell 5, Northeastern 3
No final scores on Maine-BC and BU-UNH yet, although Maine led 5-0 in the
2nd and BU led 3-1 in the 2nd.
A note on UMass: tentative scheduling has Merrimack playing a home-and-home
with UMass *next season*, 1992-93. I am still treating the rumor about
Mazzoleni as just that, btw, until verified which I don't believe it has
been by UMass or anyone else.
