No flames, but I do not think there is any proof in the hands of those who say drinking causes rowdy behavior (pun intended). Most of the conferences have their playoffs in arenas that have beer sales during the conference playoffs. And have you seen the behavior you are afraid of or referring to? Are the fans that go to conference playoffs different from the fans that go to Frozen Fours? I think the answer is "no" to both of those questions. If beer makes people get out of hand is a testable hypothesis, one that is tested every season with the same answer -- sorry members of the Temperance Movement, but you and the NCAA have it wrong now and will always have it wrong if you think it is justified to minimize the freedom of the majority to avoid some (minor) disruption by the minority.

> Gotta disagree there, Nat. True, most fans are responsible and hockey fans, being the most intelligent, good looking, best educated fans of all, are likely to be the most responsible, unlike those hotheads at Cricket matches that hollar insults at players. But, in the end, it doesn't take very many drunks or very many drunken brawls in stands to really spoil it for the majority. Can't stop it in a pro event, but you can in a college format. I support the ban. Too bad if it means some people can't have their brewskies during a game, but I suppose they could always drink before and after and just use the game instead of a beer for enjoyment.
