The following stats have been compiled from a few sources including The
Sporting News and conference media guides. I apologize if a summary
similar to this was made available at the end of last season (before I
was on hockey-L). Please let me know of any errors you come across.
It's interesting to note that over half of the members of the 100 penalty
minute club are from the CCHA. More games accounts for some of this, but
not all. Also, the only team to have more than 2 players with over 100
minutes was Michigan with 4! The "fighting" Wolverines unfortunately
will still go toe to toe with anyone (I think they actually expect and
enjoy it).
Another interesting note is the strange triple pulled off by Michigan.
They had the nation's leading freshman scorer (Brian Wiseman - 58 pts),
goaltender (Steve Shields - 26 wins) and rough-houser (Aaron Ward - 126
minutes). What a class.
