After going to the Wisc/Minn game saturday night, and watching/listening to
the rest of the games, I have some thoughts.

The game Saturday night was a great hard skating, hard checking college
hockey game. Wisconsin was just as good, and better at times, than
Minnesota. But,the final score is representative of the old hockey saying,
"you've got to put the puck away when you get the chance!" Minnesota did and
Wisconsin didn't.

As Todd M. mentioned in a previous post, not one, but two Badger forwards put
moves on Crawley and made him look silly. And, in all honesty, I thought
Daubenspeck let in a couple soft goals.

But, the enthusiasm around the Wisconsin program is how they are playing;
skating hard, and as a team. They finish every hit, their power play has
been re-vamped and is getting a lot of opportunities. Actually, I think
Wisconsin has outshot most of their opponents this year, which hasn't been
the case in previous years. It seems that the addition of Mark Johnson to
the coaching staff and a talented, hard working group of freshman, has made a
major impact on the program, and its participants.

One note from Saturdays game, a real "fight". The two players (one from UW
and one from MN obviously) took the gloves off, the linesman let them go,
which I couldn't believe, and one uppercut popped up the faceguard of the
Minnesota almost off his helmet. They both got the 5 minute major and game
DQ for it, and both deserved it. They certainly got their money's worth!

Yours,

Terry E. Tuschen Jr.
