For the record, I had planned to post this *before* Steve Klein's post...

This was a big weekend for the Michigan State Spartans. On Friday night,
MSU hosted Bowling Green. Many of us were wondering how the team would
come out after a tough east coast swing last weekend (losses to BU and
Northeastern). Bottom line, MSU defeated BGSU 8-2. The BGSU power play,
which has been very effective this year, did not score a goal. MSU
played strong hockey and Chad Alban was oh so solid in goal. It looked
like the Spartans were starting to have some "puck luck" for a change.
The Spartans outshot the Falcons 33-30.

On Saturday night, MSU hosted Michigan. This was the largest crowd to
see a hockey game at Munn since Feb., 1987. There were 6,731 people in
to see the game. Rest assured that the fans were hungry after the
football game in the afternoon. MSU defeated U o M 5-4 in regulation
play. The winning goal was scored by Bryan Adams (sophmore, left wing).
The Spartans scored first and then it was back and forth. This U o M
loss snapped a 15 game winning streak. The Spartans outshot the Wolves
27-25. This was one of the best college hockey games I've seen in a long
time!
