The Feb. 8 1996 Ann Arbor News reports that University of Michigan freshman
forward Sean Ritchlin will sit out the rest of the season due to an operation
to stop internal bleeding in his right thigh.
Ritchlin received the injury from what appeared to be a normal check in
Saturday's 2-2 tie against Ohio State University. It was originally thought
to be just a deep thigh bruise, but when swelling hadn't subsided the Sunday
following the game, Ritchlin was rushed to the hospital where the injury was
diagnosed and surgery performed to stop the bleeding and relieve the pressure
in his thigh.
No other news of his condition was reported.
