Here is a breakdown of point totals and possible finishes for WCHA teams.
In each case the 'finish' does not mean 'seed' and does not break ties
between identical point totals. (eg. Minn, Denver, and Wisc could all
finish with the same number of points and tie for second place the seeding
would be based on tie breakers. Minn beats Wisc on head to head and Wisc
beats Denver on head to head. I'm not sure how any other tie breakers go.
Colorado College has wrapped up their second consecutive regular season
title, and would assumedly recieve one of the two automatic bids reserved
for the conference. Minnesota finshes with a home-and-home series with
in-state rival St. Cloud, who has been doing well of late. Denver takes
the same route with league champ Colorado College, while Wisconsin host a
Sat.-Sun. series with Michigan Tech who dropped two to St. Cloud this
weekend. St. Cloud, Tech, N. Dakota, and UM-Duluth have a chance to grab
the final home ice for the first round of the playoffs. CC, Minn, Denver,
and Wisconsin have assured themselves of home ice for the first round and
other than CC are trying to avoid the fourth place finish that could
require them to play a third game at the Final Five in St. Paul.
