The same way BU gets ranked first with two games played, while Minnesota
is second with four games played. These are opinions polls. I suppose Harvard
might be there because they went to the final four last year and return a
great many excellent players...couldn't this have something to do with it?
I mean I'm not sure what you mean about the comparison to Notre Dame,
especially as your message is not a flame. At St. Paul for the '89 Final
Four, the TV announcers had this thing: "What's Harvard doing here? Nobody
asked for a lawyer." We know who won the tournament, but it's unclear to me
that Notre Dame would be treated that way at a football tournament. It
seems to me that it might be interesting to point out that the polls
reflect very little in terms of parity of schedule, and largely reflect
imagining about how certain teams might do between here and April. Selecting
individual teams for claims of receiving preferential treatment seems a
waste of bandwidth.
