Just an adjustment to what SteveW said about ticket prices at UML. The special
deal for youngsters is $25 for the year which includes free admission to all
regular season games, a sweatshirt, four on-ice clinics with Bruce Crowder,
shooting at the net between periods for prizes, and some other stuff. It's
also not just for kids in Lowell Youth Hockey. A kid doesn't even need to
play at all. $25 and a pulse will get you in, and they may be willing to
waive the pulse.
As a result of this great deal, UML probably has more kids in the audience
on a percentage basis than most any other school. This helps to compensate
for the dismally low numbers of UML students attending and I think is great
long-term thinking. Many of these kids are being turned into fans for life.
And even though $25 a year doesn't bring much into UML coffers, especially
after the sweatshirt and ice-time is factored in, those kids do eat a lot
of pizza, fries, cokes....
