36 games are listed. 2 are in Alaska, so I guess the pair at
Dalhousie will count in the overall record (I think the foreign tour
exemption was used last year to play in the Ottawa tourney).
Nonconference games break down as follows:
ECAC: at Colgate, RPI
INDEP: at Alaska-Fairbanks (2), Army, Air Force (2)
DivIII: Salem State
CANADIAN: at Dalhousie (2)
Unknown: at RPI Inv (vs 2 of Maine, RPI, Miami)
Merrimack will visit new HE member Mass Amherst twice this season and
host the Minutemen once. It is interesting that both road games for
MC will be played on the same weekend - I wonder if other HE teams who
play at UMass twice will be doing the same thing.
I have heard that Miami's appearance in the RPI Inv is tentative.
I like this schedule. One example: Merrimack has played pairs of
games against BU and Maine early in the season each of the last three
years. That effectively put the Warriors in the hole 0-4, and they've
been a team that has played better in the second half than the first.
In 1994-95, Merrimack hosts Maine for the 15th and 16th games of the
season. They play at BU in the 22nd game and at Maine in the 31st
game. Finally, they play a home and home with BU as the season's 34th
& 35th games. So these two opponents that have tormented Merrimack
over the last 5 years won't be met for the most part until the second
half of the season.
HE directors are meeting Wednesday, but no word on whether the playoff
format (possibly to be changed with the addition of a ninth team) will
be discussed.
