The idea of holding the national college hockey championships in L.A.
does not please me at all (and I'm a
citizen-by-virtue-of-long-previous-residence of the West Coast, Pacific
Northwest zone).

I think the championship should be played where it's appreciated. I'll
never forget the tremendous thrill of watching the Northern Michigan
Wildcats win the 1991 title in triple overtime over Boston University at
the Civic Center in St. Paul. One of the things which made it memorable
was the huge crowd of knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans, most of whom
were not fans of either of the two teams. Why put the spectacle so far
from most of the people who really love it? 5,000 in L.A. vs
12,000-15,000 in St. Paul or Milwaukee? Come on!
