RPI gets its first two points of the ECAC season, and Kevin Croxton
gets the first two goals of his collegiate career as the Engineers
defeat the Skating Saints 2-1. Both teams seemed pretty closely
matched, with neither team showing much in the finishing department.
SLU breaks on top in the first period on a power plan goal, but RPI
manages to tie the game early in the third on a nice hustle play, and
wins in on a breakaway goal. Referee Melanson calls a very tight game
which included a couple of questionable high sticking penalties on each
team.
By the looks of it, neither North Country team has the skills of their
recent past. But then neither does RPI.
